Bussecon Review of Social Sciences · 2022

Read abstract

Amid the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus, there are still many people who do not comply with health protocols, so this condition has prompted the Indonesian government through the Ministry of Health to create a #changeusirwabah campaign with a risk communication approach. This study aims to determine what and to what extent the factors in the campaign can change people's behavior to live a healthy life based on the Health Belief Model and TRA (Theory of Reasoned Action) theory. This study uses a quantitative research approach with regression analysis techniques carried out by taking 170 samples of people in DKI Jakarta who are aware of the Change Banish Outbreak campaign. The role of mediation in this study is an exciting research finding. The perceived risk variable used as a communication approach by the Ministry of Health has a vital role in encouraging the influence of campaign messages on behavioral intention. The results in this study can be used as guidelines for an institution to change public health behavior through health campaigns using a risk approach.

Read abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has occurred in Indonesia since March 2020. The pandemic period required adjustments in all sectors of life, including changes in people's behavior, namely spending more time at home. Changes in people’s behavior are needed to break the chain of Covid-19 transmissions, one of which is the implementation of Health protocols. Research on the behavior of the Indonesian people in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic includes public knowledge and understanding, compliance in implementing the 3M health protocols, and the important factors that influence changes in people's behavior to comply with the health protocol. Data was collected by distributing online questionnaires, surveys to crowd locations and FGDs. National online and offline surveys are divided into 3 regions, namely Java, West Indonesia and East Indonesia. The analysis was carried out using statistical methods, namely dependency analysis, factor analysis, and multinomial regression. The conclusion is that people who have implemented the 3M protocol and have confidence in the effectiveness of 3M tend to believe that the 3M protocol is important to continue to be implemented. In addition, it is known that social media, TV, and online media almost always ranked in the top three of the most media respondents to get information about the importance of implementing health protocols.

Christine Kapita Umumararungu · Appoline Kabera Bazubagira

International Journal of Research in Business and Social Science · 2021

Read abstract

The covid-19 crisis is global but its socio-economic effects cannot be globally scrutinized. It is deeply local and huge. The research aimed at finding out and assessing community perceptions about Covid-19 and its socio-economic effects in Rwanda. It would inspire policymakers to renovate measures and policies that would help in rehabilitating all sectors in general and more affected groups in particular. From 30 districts of Rwanda, 510 respondents have been sampled through convenience and judgmental techniques. Findings revealed that people misinterpret the pandemic which lowers their level of compliance to Covid-19 preventive measures. Stay home orders were not a fruitful time for families whereby 84% of respondents were victims of domestic and sexual violence. However, with 16%, it was a good time for family cohesion. Isolation and social values frustration, family disorganization and dysfunctional, depression, and anxiety are major social effects of Covid-19.  Loss of jobs, decreased salaries, none compliance with preventive measures fines, incapacity to pay bank loans, inability to satisfy family basic needs, government extra investment in medical health care have enormously affected the Rwandan economy. Thus, there is a need of strengthening sensitization of covid-19 spread, preventive measures, short and long-term consequences associated with it. This would shift the population from their wrong perceptions of covid-19 and increase the rate of compliance to established measures so as to free Rwanda from the pandemic and return to a normal life situation.

Accountability of mosque administrators against violation of Covid-19 health protocols in the mosque environment

Refina Mirza Devianti · Tomy Michael

International Journal of Research in Business and Social Science · 2021

Read abstract

The Covid-19 is a new virus found in Wuhan, China at the end of 2019, to be precise in December.  This virus spreads very quickly to various parts of the world, causing access between countries to be closed in anticipation of the transmission of covid-19. Covid-19 can be transmitted from one person to another by touching objects that have been exposed to a person with Covid-19 and can also catch it through coughing or sneezing droplets from that person. The existence of Covid-19 has led to changes in the order of life from normal to having to comply with health protocols implemented by the government in various places to anticipate the spread of covid-19, for example in implementing health protocols in places of worship and in crowded places.  In terms of performing worship in a mosque environment, a person is obliged to obey the protocols that have been implemented but in reality, many people don’t comply with health protocols and don’t care about the safety of others. If this is the case, then the mosque administrators or as takmir of the mosque must be responsible for the violations that occur because they are supposed to enforce health protocols in the mosque environment which is their obligation. The research method used by researchers is normative legal research with a statutory and case approach. The takmir of the mosque as the person in charge of all activities carried out in the mosque must fulfill its responsibility in a civil manner towards public disobedience to health protocols that aren’t obeyed because the mosque takmir should strictly enforce the health protocol
