The impact of technology on the general insurance sector's organizational customers' perception of value

Xuan-Nhi Nguyen

International Journal of Business Ecosystem & Strategy · 2023

Read abstract

In this study, the impact of technology is especially examined as a factor in the determination of customer perceived value and satisfaction in the professional business-to-business services of the general insurance industry. Five hundred forty-seven relevant responses from randomly chosen Vietnamese consumers who bought insurance products were acquired using both a hypothetical-deductive method and an inductive technique employing structured questionnaires. The regression study shows that while technology and technical abilities are judged to be unimportant, risk coverage, reputation, reliability, and premium positively influence consumers' opinions of value toward insurance firms. As technology cannot replace the relationships developed with service professionals, organizational consumers do not view technology as a deciding factor when choosing insurance, so avoiding favoring technology over human interaction is imperative. This warning could impact people's views, quality of life, and society. The performance of service workers should be improved through soft HRM techniques in the future, and marketers and politicians should prioritize reputation-building initiatives and training in interpersonal communication. Future research on insurance purchase behavior in business-to-business settings, particularly in developing economies, can use the proposed model as a guide. Additionally, by concentrating on the most advantageous aspects of resource allocation, this framework provides invaluable insights for firms looking to create or strengthen their competitive advantage.

Customer satisfaction and brand loyalty amongst South African Millennials during the Covid-19 Pandemic

Steven Kayambazinthu Msosa

International Journal of Research in Business and Social Science · 2023

Read abstract

Over the last decade, both inflation and societal pressures have increased. The COVID-19 outbreak exacerbated these problems, resulting in a decrease in people's earning ability and contributing to an increase in the unemployment rate in developing countries. Equally tricky for businesses is satisfying price-sensitive customers in the face of unpredictability. Thus, price- and value-obsessed customers are often less committed to a company since they seek fabulous discounts. Therefore, this study examined perceptions of customer satisfaction and brand loyalty amongst millennials in South Africa during the COVID-19 pandemic. Data from respondents were gathered using a descriptive quantitative research methodology, and a simple random sampling procedure was employed to select 142 respondents. Additionally, the research's driving principle was positivism. A self-administered questionnaire was given to the participants to complete. This study's findings suggest a strong and positive relationship between brand loyalty and customer satisfaction. The survey results were thus crucial for learning about the factors that affected customers, such as their shopping preferences and whether or not they would remain loyal to the brand. The results also show that the COVID-19 pandemic has, in some way or other, altered millennials' shopping habits. This research might be helpful to the management of the company in developing comprehensive and in-depth data about a target market so that they can plan and execute the most successful strategies.

Loyalty program benefits and their effect on relationship quality and loyalty to the retailer

Karen M. Corbishley · Corné Meintjes · Roger B. Mason

International Journal of Research in Business and Social Science · 2023

Read abstract

Loyalty Programs (LPs) aim to increase profit by rewarding, with various benefits, customers who patronize the retailer. This study investigated the benefits LPs provide in the South African Fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) marketplace and how these influence relationship quality and loyalty between retailer and customer. How the perceived benefits of LPs contribute to relationship quality (satisfaction, trust and commitment), and how they lead to loyalty are examined. To illustrate these relationships, a model showing three independent (perceived benefits, namely altruistic, consumeristic, and egoistic) and three dependent variables (relationship quality, namely trust, satisfaction, and commitment), plus customer loyalty, was developed. A quantitative survey was administered electronically over 11 days to a randomly selected sample of 5000 consumers per day from a commercial database, resulting in 1944 responses. After the deletion of incomplete or inappropriate responses, 479 usable replies remained. Since this sample was self-selected, it should be considered a convenience sample. Structural equation modelling (SEM) with confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was applied to test the hypotheses and develop the model. SEM indicated that respondents consider egoistic and consumeristic benefits as the same. Furthermore, trust and satisfaction manifest as a single construct. Both consumeristic and altruistic benefits had a significant positive relationship with this unified construct of trust/satisfaction, and the relationship between altruistic benefits and commitment was also positive and significant. Finally, although neither altruistic nor consumeristic benefits appeared to contribute directly to loyalty, a positive relationship existed between the new construct of trust/satisfaction and those of commitment and loyalty. The pathway to loyalty is indirect, and to reach this sought-after goal, relationship quality constructs must first be achieved.

Analysis of the effectiveness of e-customer service platforms on customer satisfaction at ABSA, Botswana

Douglas Chiguvi

International Journal of Research in Business and Social Science · 2023

Read abstract

The study's primary objective was to analyze the effectiveness of e-customer service platforms on customer satisfaction in commercial banks in Botswana, using ABSA bank as a case study. The secondary objectives were to assess the effectiveness of reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy and tangibles of e-customer service platforms on customer satisfaction at ABSA bank. A positivist research philosophy was adopted. A cross-sectional survey design was used to collect data and probability sampling was employed. Data were collected from 180 customers who use ABSA e-customer services platforms using a structured questionnaire with Likert-type questions. Reliability was assessed using Cronbach’s alpha (?). Data were analysed using descriptive statistics, which include mean and standard deviation. Regression and correlation were applied to test research hypotheses. Results indicate that reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy and tangibles of e-customer services platforms at ABSA are positively linked to customer satisfaction. ABSA Bank management is therefore recommended to focus on continuous improvement on customer experiences to satisfy customers. Thus, ABSA should ensure that its services are unique, unforgettable and memorable such that customers are satisfied and share the positive word of mouth about the benefits offered by the bank. ABSA should also consider customer experience and continuous improvement of digital banking platforms as tools that can be used to increase customer satisfaction and loyalty. It is recommended that future studies be carried out across other banks in Botswana and the African context as well.
