The Human Development Index (HDI), which measures a country’s human development level, considering the health, education and income indicators of countries has been published in the Human Development Report each year since 1990 by the United Nations Development Programme. Norway, which is a highly developed country, was at the top of the Human Development Index. Therefore, the aim of this study is to evaluate Norway’s human development performance. In this context, the relationship between human development and economic growth has been examined at empirical level for Norway for the period between 1990-2017. In the study, firstly, ADF and PP unit root tests were performed. Then, Granger causality analysis was applied. According to the results of Granger causality analysis there is a one-way causality relationship from human development to economic growth.

This empirical paper examines how institutional strengths or weaknesses of emerging markets might affect investment inflows into these countries. The study includes data of 13 emerging economies from different regions. The countries included are Argentina, Brazil, Chile, China, Indonesia, India, South Korea, Mexico, Malaysia, Nigeria, Poland, Russia, and Turkey for the time period 2000-2018. The institutional variables; property rights, good governance, corruption, rule of law, and civil liberties are examined to understand if there is a deviation from the existing literature for the emerging countries. Secondly, we also investigated differences among the emerging countries and asked if non-BRIC countries are different in results. A panel data model has been performed for the analysis. Our findings prove that some institutions such as corruption, civil liberties, property rights, and good governance are significantly important to attract FDI into the emerging markets, as indicated in the literature for the developed countries, but not as strong as assumed. Secondly, other institutional constructs such as rule of law and political stability found to be insignificant in emerging markets. Finally, we found a similar result even when we analyzed emerging markets without BRIC countries.

The aim of the industrial revolution is to completely change the industrial processes. An important pillar of this change is the robots. With Industry 4.0, production will be completely transferred to robots capable of communicating with each other, recognizing needs with data analysis, and detecting the environment with sensors. The inclusion of robots in the production process will reduce the need for human labor and this will lead to an increase in unemployment. For the purpose of solving this problem, in 2017 “robot taxing” was proposed by Bill Gates to the literature. The employers who choose to employ a robot are required to pay tax according to Bill Gates’ proposition. These taxes will be used for the aim of reducing unemployment and helping to minimize the inequality of income. Turkey's fourth industrial revolution can be said to follow behind. However, it is still to prepare the policy in question. The problem of taxing robots is encountered. In this paper, it is aimed to evaluate the applicability of a possible robot taxation system in Turkey.

This study aims to investigate the mediation effect of green product and green process innovation by focusing on the role of internal and external environmental orientation over firm performance to expand researches on environmental orientation. With this aim, a conceptual model has been recommended by unifying institutional theory and natural resource-based view. Data collected from 315 firms who have ISO14001 Environmental Management Certificate and took part in Turkey’s first and second ISO 500 Industrial Enterprises list in 2018 have been tested by using SmartPLS 3 software as part of Structural Equation Modelling. Empirical proofs show that internal and external environmental orientation has a positive effect on both green product innovation and green process innovation. Additionally, it has been concluded that internal environmental orientation has a direct positive effect on firm performance, while external environmental orientation has an indirect effect, which is through green product and green process innovation. The reason could be rooted in the ecological responsibility feeling of internal environmental orientation. External environmental orientation, though, could be limited only with fulfilling legal requirements with legitimacy acquiring desire. Firms strategically directed to the green product and green process innovation by doing more than the laws require and taking the lead could increase their firm performance. These findings contribute to theory and practice, enriching our understanding of how two dimensions of environmental orientation affect firm performance.

In the labour relations literature, groups such as women, students, youth, youth who are neither employed nor in education or training (15-29-year-olds) disabled people, and retirees are accepted as “disadvantaged”. Although the employment of disadvantaged groups or unemployment indicators vary across countries, the employment of disadvantaged groups appears to be a common problem in many countries. In this context, in this study, it was conducted to investigate the dissimilarity of some disadvantaged groups in terms of employment and unemployment among OECD countries, including women, youth, youth who are neither employed nor in education or training. The most dissimilar countries tried to be determined in terms of variables handled within OECD countries. This determination was considered important to make comparisons correctly between countries. Since the most recent data in OECD and World Bank databases belong to 2018, countries that belong to this year and cover the most variables whenever possible are tried to be addressed. Multidimensional scaling analysis (MDS) was used in the research. In macro studies, Cluster or MDS analyses are generally preferred for cross country comparisons. MDS analysis is a method especially used to determine the dissimilarity between units. In this study, it was found that Turkey was the most dissimilar country in other OECD countries in terms of the variables that are used in the study. This study is due diligence and the results should not be considered as good or bad. There are very good examples of countries in the field of employment and social policy, and it is also important to evaluate the locations according to these countries in determining the main results.

This paper aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Ghanaian listed banks using COSO’s IC framework. Only Control environment, Risk assessment, and Monitoring activities components of the framework considered for this study. Methodologically, out of the 60 questionnaires, surveys distributed to the banks 37 copies received representing a 61.7% response rate. Statistic Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) v25 used to analyze data by running among other reliability tests, tests of normality, and descriptive statistics. The results of means and standard deviations gained ascertained that; strong controls existed in the control environment, risk assessment, and monitoring activities of internal control of the Ghanaian listed banks. A risk assessment had a low average mean compared to the control environment and monitoring activities. Because banks operate under higher risk than any other financial institution, we propose that Ghanaian listed banks should increase investment in risk assessment.

In this study, the extent of flexible working patterns beginning to replace the conventional working models is examined in companies in Turkey and Germany and the extent of flexible working patterns in the two countries is compared. The objectives of the study are to determine the prevalence of these patterns and to find out the similarities and differences regarding flexible working in the two countries. The flexible working patterns focused on in this study are weekend work, shiftwork, overtime work, part-time work, job sharing, flexitime, fixed-term contracts, home-based work, telecommuting, and compressed workweeks. The research, which is designed with the last round database of the CRANET Survey on Comparative Human Resource Management Research, includes the companies in Turkey and Germany of the 35 participating countries (154 companies from Turkey and 278 companies from Germany which makes a total of 432 companies). In the findings section, first of all, the prevalence of each flexible working pattern in the two countries has been presented. Chi-square analysis has been conducted for each of the flexible working patterns to find out if there are any significant differences in the prevalence of these models in the two countries. As a result, it is determined that the extent of the nine flexible working patterns differed in the two countries. This is to say that the prevalence of several flexible working patterns ensuring the work-life balance of the employees is higher in Germany whereas flexible patterns used for economic reasons and do not add value to the work-life balance of the employees are usually prevalent in Turkey. The only similarity between the two countries is the use of home-based work.

In this study, 396 university students in Turkey are surveyed online regarding their attitudes towards financial issues, their level of financial knowledge, and their financial behavior. The latest version of OECD/INFE Financial Literacy Survey (2018) is used in the study. Using SPSS and LISREL. Factor analysis, Cronbach's Alpha, and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) are used to analyze the relationship between financial knowledge of the participants with their financial attitude and behavior as well as the mediation effect of financial attitude in this relationship. In line with the common wisdom that the relationship between knowledge and behavior is higher if knowledge is better reflected in the attitude of the individual, the mediation effect of financial attitude strengthens the financial knowledge and financial behavior relationship.
