Industry 4.0 technologies have optimized efficiency and effectiveness through the manufacture of sophisticated products and services, which result in enhancement of operations, improvement in safety, time, and cost-saving, and have revolutionized operations in almost all industries and have tremendously transformed the aviation sector. This study aims to examine the passenger travel experience with the implementation of e-services before, during, and after trips, from ticket bookings, self-check-in, smart boarding, in-flight services to baggage tracking after flight. Furthermore, the study seeks to identify the modern technologies with which air passengers are familiar or actively use, and to analyze the factors that influence their acceptance of these e-services. A research model was developed based on the extended Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT2) and modified to suit the objectives of this study. The study objectives were achieved through a survey, a self-administered online questionnaire from 253 air passengers was obtained, and data was analyzed using SPSS 25 software. The results reveal that performance expectancy, price-value, hedonic motivations, perceived benefits and habit have a positive significant influence on behavioral intention, while social influence, perceived challenges, facilitating conditions and effort expectancy were not supported. The results of the study give insights into how different passengers, different age groups, different geographical locations, and different technological maturity perceive such implementations. This will provide policymakers ideas on how to better manage and enhance e-services.

The study sought to establish the primary determinants of social media usage among mobile network users in Zimbabwe, and how do these determinants vary across different demographic characteristics, including age, gender, education, income, and occupation. A descriptive research design was used in this study. A self-administered face-to-face personal survey was used to collect data from the consumers. The population in this study was made up of mobile consumers of the mobile network providers, Econet, NetOne, and Telecel in Harare Province, aged between 18 and 64 years. Convenience sampling technique, was used to select the mobile network consumers to participate in the study drawn from the three mobile operators. A sample of 384 respondents was chosen for the study. The result indicated that male respondents demonstrated a stronger perception of the effects of social media engagement on social media usage and truthfulness as a determinant of social media usage among the 18 to 25 age group and the 34 to 41 age group was different. Respondents with secondary education only demonstrated stronger perceptions of the effect of perceived usefulness on social media usage than degree holders’ respondents. Formally employed respondents had a stronger perception of the effects of social media influence on social media usage compared to students. The analysis of the study results further indicated that respondents who earned less than $2000 was significantly less than the mean score for the group which earned between $3001- 4000. The study concluded that male consumers have a stronger perception of the effects of social media engagement on social media usage, the consumers in the 18 to 25 age group have stronger perceptions of truthfulness of information, holders of certificates have a stronger perception of the effects of cost effectiveness on social media usage and formally employed consumers have a stronger perception of the effects of social media influence on social media usage compared to students. Creation of social media content helps the mobile network operators to adapt, design and develop social media content specifically targeted to specific ages, gender, occupations, and income levels on social media sites. Mobile network operators can use the results of the study to choose a social media channel that speak to the right demographic consumers who visit their platforms.

In Indonesia, a QR code payment is referred to as QRIS (Quick Respond Code Indonesian Standard). QR code technology is employed by QRIS, a contemporary payment system, to establish connections between a variety of financial transactions. QRIS offers numerous advantages to businesses, including the ability to obtain numerous promotions, the automated recording of transactions, the ability to track financial income and expenses, and the elimination of the need to search for change. Regrettably, the low level of digital literacy in Indonesia has prevented certain individuals from adopting digital transactions. Consequently, policymakers and regulators will be able to make more informed decisions regarding the expansion of QRIS in Indonesia by gaining a more comprehensive understanding of the perceptions of utility and perceived ease of use among Indonesian users. This research involves individuals who have implemented QRIS. The sample size in this study was sufficient due to the use of PLS-SEM, a powerful multivariate analysis technique that is recognized for its statistical efficacy in small sample sizes. The study explores the behavioral intention to use QRIS among Indonesian users, emphasizing perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use while incorporating control variables such as age, experience, gender, income, and education. The analysis results indicate that perceived usefulness has a substantial impact on the behavior intention of QRIS, and perceived ease of use also has an impact on the behavior intention of using QRIS. Education and income were found to have no significant difference in relation to behavior intention of using QRIS, whereas age, experience, gender, and age were associated with a significant difference.

This article explores the factors that have an impact on consumers' satisfaction and behavioural loyalty in relation to ordering and delivery applications, focusing on the emerging trend of online grocery shopping. Considering the digital revolution in retail, it is critical to comprehend consumer behaviour in this space. This study offers insights from a sample of 445 respondents in South Africa. A quantitative descriptive research methodology and a non-probability convenience sampling method were employed for the study. Structural equation modelling was utilised to validate the research measurement model and to test the study’s hypotheses. The results highlight the critical roles of design aesthetics, usefulness and confirmation and show robust positive correlations that support the linkages that the study's model postulates. Notably, design aesthetics, satisfaction and usefulness are all positively influenced by confirmation, and these factors, in turn, improve consumer satisfaction and behavioural loyalty. This study stands out because it provides a fresh viewpoint on the factors that influence customer satisfaction and behavioural loyalty, particularly when it comes to grocery shopping Apps. The distinctiveness of this study resides in its thorough analysis of important concepts and how they interact with one another, all against the backdrop of an African consumer base. The results obtained have numerous applications in the real world. Prioritising the factors that influence customer satisfaction and behavioural loyalty will help marketers and companies to improve app design and marketing tactics, which will increase user satisfaction and behavioural loyalty. Such a strategy could help close the gap between the rather different literatures on consumer behaviour and digital retailing, while also increasing sales through grocery shopping applications. Through this approach, stakeholders can obtain practical insights aimed at augmenting user engagement and loyalty within the fiercely competitive online grocery sector. All things considered, this study not only clarifies the essential elements that influence consumer satisfaction and behavioural loyalty in the online grocery industry but also lays out a roadmap for future research in this quickly developing field.

This study examines the relationship between technical readiness (TR) and the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) within the framework of Over-the-Top (OTT) media services, particularly Netflix. The study employs the UTAUT model and integrates the TR model's external factors of "optimism," "innovativeness," "inadaptability," and "insecurity" to examine their moderating influences on customer utilisation of Netflix. In 2024, 475 questionnaires were disseminated in this study, of which 453 were considered valid. The study revealed that customer trust in relationships significantly influences user involvement in 'Performance Expectancy' (PE), 'Effort Expectancy' (EE), 'Social Influence' (SI), and 'Facilitating Conditions' (FC). Furthermore, consumers' intention to interact with Netflix's 'Performance Expectancy' (PE), 'Effort Expectancy' (EE), and 'Social Influence' (SI) considerably and positively affects their behaviour. The research employed hierarchical regression analysis to assess the impact of customer willingness to "Intention to Use" on the UTAUT regarding Netflix consumption. The findings indicate that the Trustworthiness Rating of consumers substantially affects the UTAUT dimensions of Performance Expectancy, Effort Expectancy, Social Influence, and Facilitating Conditions. Moreover, consumers' inclination to use Netflix is positively influenced by the constructs of Performance Expectancy, Effort Expectancy, and Social Influence. The results demonstrate that consumers' Trustworthiness Rating substantially influences the UTAUT aspects of Performance Expectancy, Effort Expectancy, Social Influence, and Facilitating Conditions. Moreover, the constructs of performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and social influence positively affect customers' inclination to utilise Netflix. The results of this study may inform strategic approaches to improve user engagement and satisfaction in the competitive OTT market.

The adoption and use of ICT have increased drastically in developed countries, but it cannot be said that it lags in developing countries. ICT evolution has introduced e-commerce services for users, but these services fail because of low user acceptance and user attitude, especially in developing nations. The security and trustworthiness of e-commerce are known to be of the most significant concern to people intending to use e-commerce services. The study looked at the role of individual characteristics on how cyber-security and trust issues affect non-users of e-commerce systems' intention to use e-commerce systems in South Africa. The effect of cyber security on consumers’ intentions and actual use of e-commerce systems was examined. This study used a quantitative research approach. The findings revealed that perceived security and perceived trust was the primary concern for non-users of e-commerce intentions. It was shown that e-commerce system users are still concerned about security, even though they intend to continue using e-commerce systems. For the success of e-commerce in rural communities, the government needs to join with retailers and SMEs to start awareness campaigns that will clarify how e-commerce systems work and eradicate negative perceptions of e-commerce systems.

General trends indicate an increase in the adoption and use of mobile shopping applications (apps) as well as shopping online. However, the trend seems not to be similar with township millennials in an emerging economy such as South Africa. Township millennial consumers seemingly prefer going in-store to buy products than via available mobile shopping apps. This novel study explored the reasons for resistance by township millennial customers to the adoption and use of mobile shopping apps during the COVID-19 pandemic to purchase products. The applicable and adopted research design for this study was explorative. A qualitative research approach was adopted and data was collected using online interviews. A sample size of ten township millennial consumers from four (Tembisa, Soweto, Katlehong, and Diepkloof) townships in South Africa participated in the interview process. Thematic analysis was used to analyse the collected data and determine the findings of the study. The main findings indicated that participants perceived some concerns related to security and privacy in using retail mobile shopping apps. There was a lack of knowledge and awareness regarding mobile shopping apps and how they function which further resulted in the resistance of usage. Township millennial consumers are stuck with the habit of buying in-store and cost is another factor that was highlighted as a cause for resistance, as they do not want to pay for delivery fees and hidden costs that arise from using retail mobile apps. The paper further provides valuable contributions, limitations and future study avenues. This study addressed the dearth in research about resistance factors in using advanced technology in townships. The findings provided insights into what mobile app shopping retailers should address to attract the adoption of app technologies and could mitigate further spread of future pandemics such as that of COVID-19.

This study aims to examine online shopping behaviour on social media platforms. This study formulates a research model integrating trust with the flow theory and some basic constructs of the UTAUT. To analyze the data from an online survey involving 305 participants actively making online purchases through social media platforms. This study applied the Structural Equation Modeling-Artificial Neural Networks (SEM-ANN) technique. Incorporating statistically significant SEM findings, the ANN model was used to analyze linear and nonlinear interactions among proposed variables. The research findings demonstrate that flow emerges as the most significant determinant, succeeded by effort expectancy, social influence, and performance expectancy, in defining the concept of trust. However, the sensitivity analysis using ANN indicates that effort expectancy is the most important factor in establishing trust, followed by flow, social influence, and performance expectancy. The predictive power of intention to use is noteworthy in determining actual use behaviour, with trust and flow emerging as influential factors favourably impacting this intention.

This article aims to assess the direct and indirect influence of suppliers' and buyers' behavioral intention on the performance of public procurement in Tanzania. This is accomplished by analyzing their utilization of the e-procurement system, using an adapted rendition of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology. The study used an explanatory cross-sectional survey research design and implemented a stratified sampling method to choose a sample of 312 participants, comprising of both customers and providers. The data collecting process included administering a questionnaire consisting of closed-ended questions and conducting a thorough examination of pertinent documents. The gathered data was then examined using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling, with the aid of SmartPLS 4 software. The findings indicate that behavioral intention has a favorable, direct, and indirect impact on the performance of public procurement. The research suggests that the effectiveness of public procurement is indirectly impacted by the behavioral inclination of both buyers and suppliers to use the e-procurement system. Moreover, the efficiency of the e-procurement system is significantly impacted by the use patterns of both purchasers and vendors. Therefore, it is recommended that developing countries, such as Tanzania, should take into account the behavioral intention and usage behavior of both buyers and suppliers before, during, and after the adoption of an e-procurement system.

Facebook and WhatsApp, recognised as popular social media and messaging platforms, are increasingly being used as online sales platforms through the emergence of marketplaces, online stores and groups. Businesses and individual sellers create groups on these platforms to attract buyers who share similar interests, but the buyers and sellers often do not know one another, which may cause trust issues. Therefore, sellers should be aware of the factors that influence a buyer’s trust so that strategies can be developed to mitigate trust issues that may hinder sales transactions. The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of information quality, perceived ease of use and usefulness on consumers’ trust in Facebook and WhatsApp groups as online sales platforms. Following a descriptive research design, the data was gathered from 412 participants by means of an electronic self-administered questionnaire that was distributed to the South African database of an international research company. The statistical methods that were used to analyse the data included reliability measures, HTMT analysis and structural equation modelling. The findings of the study revealed that the information quality and perceived ease of use of WhatsApp and Facebook groups significantly influence the perceived usefulness of these groups, which, in turn, influences consumers’ trust in WhatsApp and Facebook groups as online sales platforms. In conclusion, by understanding the relationship between these factors, social media platforms could alter their group features, while businesses and individual sellers can improve their marketing strategies to instil trust among group members and ultimately increase sales.

This study examines the factors influencing continuance usage intentions in Vietnam’s online food delivery (OFD) market, using the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) with health consciousness as a moderator. The research identifies that performance expectancy, social influence, and facilitating conditions are significant determinants of continuance usage intentions, whereas effort expectancy shows a minor role. The analysis highlights health consciousness’s critical role in moderating the effects of PE and SI on usage intentions, revealing that a higher level of health awareness leads to more stringent evaluations of OFD services. These insights suggest that OFD service adoption in Vietnam is greatly influenced by how well services align with health-centric consumer preferences. The findings advocate for OFD platforms to adapt their strategies to meet the health-oriented demands of the market, emphasizing quality and transparency. This research contributes to understanding technology acceptance by highlighting the complex relationship between traditional service evaluation metrics and individual health values in influencing consumer behavior in a rapidly digitizing economy.

The existing body of literature on e-procurement adoption has not adequately predicted the direct and indirect impact of performance expectancy and effort expectancy on the usage behavior of e-procurement system through the attitude of users. This paper focuses on analyzing the direct and indirect effects of various factors that influence the usage behavior of e-procurement systems in Tanzania. The paper was guided by the Social Information Processing (SIP) theory, the Affect Infusion Model (AIM), and the modified Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT). The paper also used a deductive perspective and an explanatory cross-sectional survey research approach. A stratified sampling technique was used to identify 383 respondents (buyers and suppliers) that use the e-procurement system. Data gathering was conducted via the use of a documentary review and questionnaire. Inferential statistical analysis was conducted using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling, with the assistance of SmartPLS 4 software. The results indicate that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and attitude significantly influence positively the usage behavior of the e-procurement system (p value<0.05). The paper finds that the behavior of buyers and suppliers, after the adoption of an e-procurement system, is indirectly impacted by the system's performance expectancy and effort expectancy, via their positive attitudes. The results of this study confirm the usefulness of the proposed research model in directing management decision-making, particularly in determining the importance of investment considerations when implementing or improving an e-procurement system.

This study examines attitudes towards the use of portable devices for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) adoption in Small and Medium-sized Tourism Enterprises (SMTEs) in peri-urban areas of the South African Eastern Cape province. A comprehensive examination of portable gadgets in business ICT and their impact on SMTEs in Eastern Cape peri-urban areas was performed using a non-probability purposive sampling technique to select eight SMTEs, with a quantitative methodology approach adopted, using a structured questionnaire for an in-depth interview. Data captured from structured interview sessions were deductively coded with the aid of software (NVivo version 12), with the transcribed interview data divided into different meaningful codes in this process; developed based on the difference, similarities, and meanings that emerged. The findings suggest a positive attitude towards portable digital device and technology use in SMTEs in the tourism sector in Eastern Cape peri-urban areas. Smartphones were found to play a crucial role as essential business tools, particularly favored in rural settings, while laptops were indicated as valued for their portability, serving as indispensable tools for daily business activities, while tablets hold less significance. The results highlight participant reliance on smartphones for business operations as critical, since these devices streamline numerous tasks, improve convenience, and enable seamless connectivity while mobile. The use of tablets in the tourism and hospitality sectors appears to be limited. The finding’s additionally indicated participants are heavily reliant on laptops for routine business activities, due to their portability and convenience. Desktop computers were, furthermore, found to primarily be used as backup systems, indicating a diverse, portable ICT gadget usage pattern among participants.

This study investigates the impact of Technological Preparedness on trust in e-commerce by SMEs in South Africa. The study examined the role of an organisation’s Technological Preparedness in influencing the use of e-commerce. A positivist research paradigm and quantitative research approach underpins this study. Demographical factors were used as control variables. A total of 497 respondents participated in the research, and the findings highlighted the significance of Technological Preparedness in influencing trust in e-commerce by SMEs in South Africa. The findings suggest that demographics such as Age, Gender, Education Level, Province of origin, Business Category, and Internet Experience had little or no influence on trust in e-commerce compared to Technological Preparedness. The technological limitations SMEs experience significantly influence their trust in e-commerce, impacting their adoption and usage of e-commerce in their businesses. This study contributes to the existing literature on the adoption of technology by SMEs in developing countries. It provides insights for policymakers to develop effective policies that support the usage of e-commerce by SMEs to facilitate growth and sustainability. Based on the findings, government policies should improve to focus more on addressing technological issues and empower SMEs to enhance their preparedness to adopt e-commerce.

The adoption of e-procurement systems in developing countries is progressing slowly due to several challenges and barriers. Likewise, the adoption of e-procurement systems has been extensively studied, with research focusing on direct effects of factors like transparency and compatibility. This research aimed to evaluate the direct and indirect effects of relative advantage and performance expectancy on the adoption of e-procurement systems by combining components from the Technology, Organization, and Environment model with a modified Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology. This was accomplished by analyzing the function of attitude as a mediator and the legal framework as a moderator in the suggested study model. This study used a cross-sectional survey research design, together with a stratified sampling technique, to acquire a sample size of 367 respondents. The data were acquired via the distribution of questionnaires and the examination of relevant documents. The collected data underwent descriptive analysis using IBM SPSS statistics version 26, and inferential analysis was performed using PLS-SEM with the assistance of SmartPLS 4 software. The study's results validate a significant statistical moderating impact of the legal framework on the relationship between performance expectancy and attitude towards adoption of e-procurement system. On the other hand, adoption of e-procurement system is impacted by performance expectancy and relative advantage, which have both direct and indirect significances. Attitudes have a direct impact on the adoption of e-procurement system. This study proposes that future research should include respondents from several countries to improve the applicability of the suggested model.

The number of digital banks in Indonesia is very large, resulting in intense competition between each digital bank. The tighter competition for digital banks, makes the interest in reusing digital bank users low and makes users tend to switch brands or providers in using digital banks. This study aims to determine the factors that influence e-servicescape on continuance intention mediated by brand image and performance expectancy. This research is categorized as explanatory research. Respondents in this study were users of the Blu by BCA Digital application on the island of Java, determining the number of samples in this study using purposive sampling technique with a total sample size of 249 respondents. The data collection method used a questionnaire, the data was analyzed using PLS-SEM. The results showed that e-servicescape had no significant effect on continuance intention. E-servicescape has a significant effect on brand image, brand image has a significant effect on continuance intention. E-servicescape has a significant effect on performance expectancy, performance expectancy has a significant effect on continuance intention. Brand image and performance expectancy can play a fully mediating role in the relationship between e-servicescape and continuance intention. Although e-servicescape does not have a significant influence directly, it is still part of the customer experience in using the Blu by BCA Digital app. Therefore, Blu by BCA Digital should continue to invest in technology and innovation to improve their e-servicescape. This includes the use of the latest technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, and personalized user experience. The better the e-servicescape, the better the brand image, performance expectancy and continuance intention of customers to keep using the service.

This paper systematically reviews literature with the aim of conceptualizing a change management framework for the effective use of the Examination Administration System (EAS). Information systems (IS) change management factors in the implementation and the post-implementation phases are systematically reviewed to identify 37 reports between 2015 and 2023 and content was analyzed. Post-acceptance phase poses many challenges that often result in resistance from the user community thus relinquishing the expected gains. This paper explains change management factors in the post-implementation phase of information systems as they are not adequately addressed in existing literature. The conceptualization of the change management framework draws on the integration of the Unified Theory of Acceptance, Use of Technology and Effective Use Theory and nine change management factors as facilitating conditions. The paper concludes that effective use of EAS is realized through change management factors (i.e., user training, top management support activities, information flow, planning EAS as a change, change shared vision, performance measurement, user involvement and change recognition, user satisfaction and effective communication). This study further adds the indirect mechanisms (i.e., technology use and IS adaptive use) through which the change management factors can impact effective use. The study provides a useful guide to the practitioners and researchers to explain the change management strategies for the effective use of information systems and improve it. This paper also proposes that future studies adapt and/or empirically test conceptual change management apparatus for effective use to ascertain its validity within various contexts.

While studying the adoption of mobile banking, its antecedents must be considered to have a better understanding and complete picture of the factors affecting the adoption of mobile banking. There is a scarcity of studies about the effect of the (Rogers, 1995, 2003) five attributes of innovation on the adoption of mobile banking. So, this paper examined the effect of relative advantage, compatibility, complexity, trialability, and observability on the adoption of mobile banking in Egypt. The study hypotheses were tested using primary data collected online. The results show that relative advantage, compatibility, and observability have a significant positive impact on the adoption of mobile banking. On the other hand, the effect of complexity and trialability on the adoption of mobile banking was negative but nonsignificant.
