Investigating the effect of teacher commitment on student academic achievement

Insaf El Kalai · Brahim Kirmi · Imad Ait Lhassan

International Journal of Research in Business and Social Science · 2022

Read abstract

The present work is interested in the resonance of teacher commitment on students' academic commitment and consequently on their academic achievement. It aims to identify the determinants of the commitment of Moroccan teachers at the qualifying secondary level specifically in the Provincial Directorate of National Education of Tangier-Assilah (Morocco), in particular organizational commitment and professional commitment with repercussions on student commitment in its two dimensions: affective, cognitive and its extension on academic achievement. This article has discussed the conceptual and theoretical details as well as the problematic, the main hypotheses and the conceptual model of the research. Then, it has presented the results of the empirical study which is based on a quantitative methodological approach of a positivist hypothetical deductive nature. The data were collected by a questionnaire submitted by e-mail to our study population, which consists of 204 teachers and 380 students of the qualifying secondary level in 29 local public schools of the qualifying secondary cycle in the Provincial Directorate of National Education of Tangier-Assilah (Morocco). The result of our empirical study shows that the teacher commitment had a positive and statistically significant effect on student academic achievement through student engagement in local public schools of the qualifying secondary cycle in the Provincial Directorate of National Education of Tangier-Assilah (Morocco).

From the first studies of the unconscious mind to consumer neuroscience: A systematic literature review

Ikrame Masrhouni · Abdelaziz Bahoussa

International Journal of Research in Business and Social Science · 2023

Read abstract

Our brain has nearly 100 billion nerve cells, responsible for sensory perception and serving as a memory for all the information processed by the body. The brain is, therefore, the basis of cognition and emotions. This article aims to present the origins and the development timeline of neuromarketing from the first studies of the unconscious mind to the use of neurosciences techniques in the consumer behavior field. Therefore, the research method used in this paper is a systematic literature review based on a multidisciplinary theoretical exploration of events concerning the development of neuromarketing from 2010 to 2018. The paper theoretically proves that neuromarketing is the only field of research that induces the existence of unconscious, implicit, subliminal, and emotional processes that cannot be approached without the contribution of neurosciences. Still, its ethical nature limits its use and requires researchers to comply with specific regulations to protect consumers from possible risks of illegal exploitation. The results of this systematic literature review have shown that using neurosciences in marketing is crucial since it allows researchers to consider the unconscious and automatic elements in consumer decision-making.

The effect of logistics performance determinants on export performance

Imad Ait Lhassan · Manal Ezekari · Mahmoud Belamhitou · Ikram El Hachimi

International Journal of Research in Business and Social Science · 2022

Read abstract

From the mid-1980s, Morocco confirmed its choice to liberalize trade so that international trade could become a lever for development. However, despite these ambitions, the persistence of the trade deficit has led us to reflect on the challenges of exports and the factors that can trigger the emergence of new competition. At this level, logistics has become one of the key factors to circumvent the obstacles that affect the supply of Moroccan exports. This paper aims to study and assess the impact of the determinants of logistics performance on export performance in the Moroccan context. It follows that the general concepts will be defined, and a review of the literature on the importance of the determinants of logistics performance in exporting companies will be presented, as well as the theoretical and practical research work that has studied the impact of determinants of logistics performance on export performance. The data were collected from the logistics directors and managers of 90 Moroccan exporting companies and later were analyzed by using the structural equation modelling technique to test the hypotheses and validate the research model. The results of our empirical study showed that the three determinants of logistics performance (collaboration, information sharing and logistics strategy) positively affect the export performance of Moroccan firms, also, we have distinguished that the three determinants play a very important role in improving the company's activities and strengthening the relationship between suppliers and customers, and finally, we found that all hypotheses of our study are validated. Our study has shown that there are certain determinants of logistics performance (collaboration, information sharing and logistics strategy) that contribute to the improvement of export performance in companies. In addition, we will verify our conceptual model in other countries which would allow us to identify universal trends and we have distinguished that there are other determinants and other important variables that will be integrated in our future research model.

Balancing contracts expectations and professional identity

Monica T. A Yawson · Lucia Zithobile Ngidi · Charles Hanu · Dorothy Morgan Zar

International Journal of Research in Business and Social Science · 2024

Read abstract

This study integrates the psychological contract theory with the self-determination theory to examine the impact of relational and transactional psychological contracts on the professional identity of young professionals in Ghana’s professional services sector. It further explores how these identities influence their career resilience, considering the moderating effects of conscientiousness and organisational support. Employing a quantitative methodology, the research utilised a structured questionnaire to collect data from 421 professionals across various sectors within Ghana’s professional services firms. The data was analysed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings confirm that relational and transactional psychological contracts positively influence Professional Identity Strength (PIS), with relational contracts showing a stronger effect. PIS significantly predicts career resilience. Additionally, the moderating effects of conscientiousness and a supportive organisational climate are significant, enhancing the positive impact of PIS on career resilience. This study contributes to the literature by combining psychological contract and self-determination theories to provide new insights into the dynamics of professional identity and resilience in the workplace, particularly within the context of Ghana’s professional services sector.

Exploring correspondence between social culture, and employees’ subjective well-being: A mystery revealed!

Mohammed Khalis · Hind Hourmat

International Journal of Research in Business and Social Science · 2021

Read abstract

Wondering about, «what does 'A happy workplace' mean? », has always been a rhetorical question. Be that as it may, this study examined the underlying implicit correspondence between social culture and employee subjective well-being. Previous research studying well-being predictors and constraints has failed to propose a precise model that exposes the different determinants of employee subjective well-being. To address this gap, this paper considers cultural dimensions, as subjective well-being predictors, and it considers individuals' emotional and cognitive experiences, as mediating factors. Online surveys were administered to 500 participants, and the structural equation model (SEM) was used to analyze the data. The astonishing results have revealed that people operating in organizations with higher power distance are less likely to have well-being, on the other hand, employees at workplaces dominated by an Individualistic mindset are more prone to have a fulfilling work life.

International Journal of Business Ecosystem & Strategy · 2026

Read abstract

In the era of e-commerce and the increasing digitalization of consumer journeys, online customer reviews have become a decisive factor influencing potential buyers’ decisions. This study investigates the effect of online experience sharing on consumers’ purchase intentions across six key dimensions: emotional valence, quantity, content quality, responsiveness, reviewer reputation, and review recency. A quantitative research design was employed using data collected from a sample of 320 online consumers. The dataset was analyzed through multiple linear regression models to assess the relative impact of each dimension. The findings reveal that all six dimensions exert a positive and statistically significant influence on consumers’ purchase intentions, with emotional valence and review content emerging as the most influential factors. These results contribute to the growing body of literature on online consumer behavior and provide valuable managerial insights for digital marketing practitioners aiming to optimize electronic word-of-mouth strategies.

International Journal of Research in Business and Social Science · 2023

Read abstract

Training and development have emerged as important construct within entrepreneurial literature over the past two decades. This study proves how training and development can effectively advance fish farming productivity in Odogbolu Metropolis. The impact of fishermen's educational level on fish profitability was examined. The influence of feed quality on fish performance was also demonstrated. The assessment of fish weight/size as a determinant of fish marketability in the study area was also researched. The study's objectives were underscored through the lens of constructivism and human capital theories. A purposive sampling technique was adopted to determine one hundred and twenty-one sample sizes. A quantitative approach was employed, and three hypotheses were presented and tested by applying regression techniques using SPSS software. The study found a significant association between fish farmers' educational level and profitability. Feed quality showed a significant association with fish performance, and a significant association was also found between fish weight/size and fish marketability. The study proves that fish farmers should educate themselves through training and development programs on quality fish production regarding fish weight/size, fish performance, and fish marketability. Government and stakeholders must proactively encourage adult education among fish farmers to expose them to the benefits of fish farming activities in the study area.
