Saima Javed · Zhu Yingjun · Nilesh Kumar · Sikraj Meghwar

International Journal of Research in Business and Social Science · 2024

Read abstract

The 21st century has witnessed a rapid surge in industrial pollution, accompanied by the depletion of natural resources, prompting a collective call to action. As a result, the greening of corporations and ecological sustainability has emerged as a matter of paramount importance for decision-makers worldwide. This study, thereby, aims to examine the implementation of environmentally responsible (Green) human resource management practices in the health sector and their influence on organizational sustainability performance. Methodologically, a descriptive approach was employed, utilizing a questionnaire survey to collect data from 250 healthcare employees within Pakistan's healthcare sector. The study's statistical outcomes indicate that green hiring positively influences economic performance but not social and environmental performance. However, green training, involvement, performance management, and compensation are all positively related to organizational sustainability performance, encompassing social, economic, and environmental aspects in Pakistan’s healthcare sector. By summing up, this study concludes the significance of customizing green HR practices for enhancing sustainability performance in the healthcare sector. It underscores the crucial role played by green human resource management practices and their impact on organizational sustainability performance in a developing country context, specifically in Pakistan.

Exploring the impact of green human resource management on pro-environmental behaviors: a study in Afghanistan's industrial sector

Mohammad Yunes Amini · Zhen Tang · Zakirullah Zaki

International Journal of Research in Business and Social Science · 2024

Read abstract

Green human resource management, or GHRM, is a relatively new idea but is already thought to be an essential tool for fostering sustainable behavior in businesses. We intended to find out how GHRM affects worker pro-environmental behaviors (PEBs) by using worker engagement (WENG) and the green psychological climate (GPC) as mediators. The study tested and analyzed the suggested model using the PLS-SEM technique via SmartPLS 4. To gather data from 324 valid respondents—HR managers and employees—we used a quantitative study approach. These participants were chosen randomly from three industrial parks in Afghanistan. The analysis's findings demonstrated that GHRM possessed a positive impact on employees' PEBs. Furthermore, the employees' pro-environmental behaviors PEBs are fostered by the green psychological climate GPC and worker engagement WENG. The study presents new findings indicating that, in the Afghanistan industrial context, GHRM both directly and indirectly affects employees' PEBs through the partially mediating effects of GPC and WENG. The present research is significant because it fills in the gaps in the literature and offers new perspectives on GHRM. Notably, there aren't many GHRM studies that focus on Afghanistan's industrial sector. Furthermore, in analyzing these connections and evaluating the mediation effects, this study contributes to the body of knowledge currently available on PEBs.  Additionally, this study makes a practical contribution to the industrial sector by offering guidance on how to improve managers' understanding of GHRM policies, enhance employee PEBs at work, and foster an environmentally friendly organizational culture.

Greening university practices: empowering eco-conscious behavior, transforming sustainable culture, and shaping greener institutional awareness through strategic green HRM initiatives

Mohammad Yunes Amini · Zhen Tang · Azizullah Besharat

International Journal of Research in Business and Social Science · 2024

Read abstract

Green human resource management practices are widely accepted and are essential for encouraging sustainable behavior in organizations. We aimed to ascertain the relationship between employees' eco-friendly behavior and Green HRM practices by employing environmental awareness as a mediator. we analyzed and tested the suggested model Employing the PLS-SEM method through SmartPLS 4. The current study employed a quantitative research approach to collect data from 346 actual respondents. From six major public universities in Afghanistan, these participants were selected randomly. Based on the investigation, it was shown that green recruitment and selection, green training and development, green performance management, and green reward and compensation possessed a positive impact on employees' eco-friendly behavior.  Additionally, environmental awareness promotes eco-friendly conduct among the staff. The research provides updated outcomes showing that, through the partially moderating impacts of environmental awareness, green HRM practices in Afghanistan's public universities both directly and indirectly influence employees' eco-friendly behavior. The current study is noteworthy since it provides fresh insights into green HRM. Additionally, by examining these relationships and assessing the mediation effects, this work adds to the amount of literature already accessible on environmentally friendly behaviors.  Furthermore, current research makes a practical contribution to public universities by suggesting guidelines on how to increase academicians' awareness of green HRM practices, enhance eco-friendly behavior at work, and develop environmentally friendly behavior.

Exploring key drivers of tourism sustainability practices and their impact on sustainable competitive performance in the accommodation industry

Md Farijul Islam

International Journal of Business Ecosystem & Strategy · 2024

Read abstract

This study aims to explore key drivers of tourism sustainability practices and their impact on the sustainable competitive performance of the tourism accommodation industry. The study adopts an exploratory research design under qualitative research, using semi-structured interviewing of owners and managers of tourism accommodation firms using the TOE framework and RBV theory. The findings reveal that technological sustainability expertise, executive sustainability support, organizational resources and capability, service intermediary sustainability practices, collaborative innovation adoption capability, tourism sustainability regulatory policy, and sustainability practices perceived by residents are the key drivers of TSP. The outcomes also show that tourism sustainability practices have a positive impact on the SCP of accommodation firms. This study makes a theoretical contribution to the literature on tourism sustainability by exploring how TOE antecedents motivate firms to adopt sustainability practices as product innovation, which in turn enhance SCP. Also, this study provides strong backing for the premises of the TOE framework, and RBV theory offers valuable practical insights for managers and owners. This will aid in identifying the pivotal factors influencing TSP and SCP, enabling the implementation of innovative strategies to enhance firm competitiveness. Also, the research can help the government and policymakers formulate sustainable tourism policies to promote tourism innovations. The adoption of sustainable practices has been a focal point for both academic researchers and professionals in the tourism industry. However, there has been insufficient exploration of the TOE drivers that facilitate the integration of tourism sustainability within the context of TAFs in a developing country. Therefore, this study aims to fill this gap in knowledge.

Integration of sustainability marketing into business strategies: Challenges during adoption

Faith Tinonetsana · Priscilla Musariwa

International Journal of Research in Business and Social Science · 2024

Read abstract

The objective of this study was to investigate the challenges encountered by organisations when integrating sustainable marketing into their strategic strategies. The research adopted a qualitative research design. Participants were selected from a representative sample of Zimbabwean organisations from various industries that have incorporated sustainable practices into their marketing strategy. Purposive sampling was used to select businesses encompassing various industries, sizes, and degrees of sustainability integration. This study, grounded in stakeholder theory, unveils challenges in implementing sustainable marketing strategies, including consumer awareness, resource constraints, hesitancy from stakeholders, competition from alternatives, regulatory complexities and measurement difficulties, underscoring the critical role of stakeholder engagement in navigating these challenges. Organisations must strategically incorporate sustainable practices by optimising resources, reducing inefficiencies, and aligning with sustainability goals, promoting the connection between resource optimization and environmental preservation. Further, they have leverage partnerships with sustainable suppliers, NGOs, and stakeholders to enhance sustainability initiatives by pooling resources, sharing costs, and overcoming budget constraints. Further study could investigate effective strategies for overcoming stakeholder hesitancy and fostering greater stakeholder engagement in sustainability initiatives.

An investigation of the impact of green perceived value and green perceived risk on repurchase intention through green trust in green product Adidas

Nenggala Santri Anom · Kusuma Ratnawati · Raditha Dwi Vata Hapsari

International Journal of Research in Business and Social Science · 2024

Read abstract

This study examines the impact of green perceived value and green perceived risk on repurchase intention mediated by  green trust in Adidas green products. This study is explanatory and employs a quantitative methodology. The study's population comprised individuals who purchased Adidas green products. This study employs a purposive sampling technique. The sample size consists of 190 respondents. The data utilized in this study were gathered by questionnaire. The acquired data were analyzed using SEM (Structural Equation Modeling) PLS. The findings indicated that Green Perceived Value positively enhances repurchase intention and trust. Furthermore, Green Perceived Risk adversely affects repurchase intention and trust, while Green Trust enhances repurchase intention. Green Trust can enhance the relationship between Green Perceived Value and Green Perceived Risk regarding repurchase intention, but its mediation role is partial. This study highlights that to increase repurchase intention, Adidas should focus on high green perceived value through consistent product quality and emphasize its environmental commitment to attract younger consumers. Although green perceived risk is low, Adidas should minimize negative risks and maintain product quality. Additionally, green trust plays a crucial role in strengthening consumer confidence and attracting new customers.

Read abstract

This study was conducted to examine the effect of 3D printing cost, 3D printing technology adoption and regulatory compliance on environmental sustainability among 3D printing firms in South Africa. The study also investigated the mediating effect of regulatory compliance on the relationships between 3D printing cost and 3D printing technology adoption on environmental sustainability. The study adopted a deductive research approach, quantitative research method and an explanatory correlational research design. Simple random sampling technique was used to select a total of 152 employees of 3D printing firms in South Africa. Questionnaires served as the data collection instruments, and online data gathering was done using Google Forms. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 26 software was used for data coding, data entry, and descriptive statistics. Smart PLS 4 was used to conduct partial Least Squares (PLS) Structural Equation Modelling. Results of the study indicate that a significant negative relationship exists between 3D printing cost and environmental sustainability while a significant positive relationship was found to exist between 3D printing technology adoption and environmental sustainability among 3D printing firms in South Africa. A significant positive relationship also exists between 3D printing regulatory compliance and environmental sustainability. For mediation effects, it was found that 3D printing regulatory compliance negatively mediates the relationship between cost and environmental sustainability. The results also indicated that regulatory compliance does not mediate the relationship between 3D printing technology and environmental sustainability. The study concludes that, in as much as 3D printing costs and technology adoption are essential, regulatory compliance has significant role to play in ensuring the maximization of environmental sustainability in South Africa’s 3D printing industry.
