This study looks at the effect of accounting flexibility on earnings quality in public companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the period 2016 to 2019. This study uses two models to measure earnings quality, namely ERC and earnings persistence. The results showed that accounting flexibility, namely the limitations of companies to carry out accrual earnings management, can reduce earnings quality, as shown by the abnormal accrual model which shows a significant positive coefficient direction, and for the ERC model and earnings persistence which shows a negative and significant coefficient direction. The higher the level of accrual earnings management up to a certain limit point, the more incentive company managers will have to increase accounting flexibility and switch to real earnings management (Xu and Yang, 2013; Masri, 2018). Theoretical contributions show that the higher the level of accrual earnings management up to a certain limit point, the more incentive company managers will have to increase accounting flexibility and switch to real earnings management (Xu and Yang, 2013; Masri, 2018; Purba, Surya, Joshi & Tiagy, 2023). The Implications of this research show that accounting flexibility is carried out when abnormal accruals reach the highest limit point reflected in accounting choices in net operating assets in the balance sheet, so in this case it results in a low level of earnings informativeness and earnings persistence.

This study aimed to analyze the effect of auditor rotation, audit fees, audit tenure, and professional skepticism on audit quality. The data collection method was carried out on 370 auditors who worked at the big 10 public accounting firms (KAP). The research data was in the form of a Likert scale questionnaire which was collected and analyzed using SPSS for windows ver. 22. The results of this study indicated that each independent variable had a simultaneous effect on audit quality. The auditor rotation variable significantly affected audit quality with an antagonistic relationship direction, so the first hypothesis was accepted. The audit fee variable had no significant effect on audit quality. The audit tenure variable had no significant effect on audit quality. The professional skepticism variable had a significant effect on audit quality. The professional skepticism variable had the highest beta coefficient among other variables, so the professional skepticism variable had the strongest and simultaneous effect on audit quality.

Result of research showed that the audit committee had a positive effect on earnings quality, while the convergence of IFRS and accounting disclosure cannot affect earnings quality. Research model was tested using control variables, respectively leverage, liquidity and company size. The test found that leverage is the only control variable that affects earnings quality. This study aims to empirically examine the effect of tenure audits on the timely publication of financial statements moderated by industry specialist auditors. This study uses a sample of 726 Firm Years, which were obtained through a purposive sampling method from companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2018-2020. This study uses the method of Sub-Group Logistic Regression and Sub-Group Moderation in testing the hypothesis. The results of this study indicate that audit tenure has a negative effect on the timeliness of financial statement publications. This means that the longer the audit period of an auditor, the publication of financial statements will be relatively less timely. The results of this study also show that industry specialist auditors are able to moderate the relationship between audit tenure and the timeliness of financial statement publications. This means that the influence of audit tenure on the timely publication of financial statements in the industry specialist auditor group is greater than in the non-industry specialist auditor group. Therefore, the more specialist the auditor, the stronger the influence between audit tenure on timeliness.

This research focus to investigate the effect of audit quality and financial constraint on the complementary level of financial and tax reporting aggressiveness. This research uses binary logistic regression to investigate the effect of audit quality and financial constraint on the complementary level of financial and tax reporting aggressiveness with a sample of 147 manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in 2017-2019. This research found that companies with good audit quality have a complementary level of financial and tax reporting aggressiveness that tends to be below. Also, companies that face financial constraints have a higher complementary level of financial reporting and tax aggressiveness. This study presents empirical evidence that supports the view of audit quality and financial constraint’s impact on the complementary level of financial and tax aggressiveness. Although there are many studies that discuss the relationship between financial and tax aggressiveness, there are still few studies that contribute to examine the determinants of the complementary level of financial and tax reporting aggressiveness in Indonesia.

Stock Price Synchronicity is a calculation used to show the proportion of the company's internal and external information accumulated into the stock price. This study aims to examine internal information in the form of sustainability reports and earnings quality on stock price synchronicity. Furthermore, this study also aims to examine the moderating effect of institutional investors as an indicator of sophisticated investors. The population in this study is a go-public manufacturing company on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI). The sample was determined by the purposive sampling method. This research uses multiple regression analysis methods with a panel data form. The results showed that companies with a higher quality of sustainability reports had lower stock price synchronicity and institutional investors did not have a moderating effect in this relationship. The results also show that companies that have higher earnings quality have high stock price synchronicity as well. This relationship changes when the institutional investor moderation variable is added. Companies with higher earnings quality have lower stock price synchronicity values.

The aim of this research is to examine the effect of real earnings manipulation (REM) on the performance of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in Indonesia. This research was conducted at a state-owned company listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in 2013-2017. Data obtained from financial reports and annual reports issued by IDX and the Web of each SOEs. Data also comes from the Indonesian Capital Market Directory. The research variables consist of a dependent variable, which is financial performance, and an independent variable that is REM. Financial performance is proxy by net profit margin (NPM) and returns on equity (ROE). Earnings manipulation is proxy by Roychowdhury's model. The type of ownership is used as a control variable of this research. Generally, the least square regression model is used to test the relationship between earnings manipulation and SOEs performance. This research shows that earnings manipulation based on real activities through production costs negatively affects the performance of Indonesian SOEs, government ownership negatively effects on NPM whereas public ownership has a positive effect on performance, as measured by ROE. Improper government policies can reduce the performance and significant disadvantages of SOEs.

This study aims to examine the effect of the audit committee and internal audit on the audit report lag and examine the relationship between the audit committee and the internal audit moderated by the size of a public accounting firm. This study uses 220 samples of manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange based on purposive sampling. The analytical method used is Partial Least Square (PLS). The results show that the audit committee influences the audit report lag while the internal audit has no effect. The size of a public accounting firm successfully moderated the relationship between the audit committee and audit report lag, but failed to moderate the relationship between the internal audit and audit report lag

This study uses a population of manufacturing companies that publish their financial statements on the Indonesian Stock Exchange in 2015-2017. The samples are selected with a purposive sampling method. There is 100 manufacturing company selected as the sample for the period of 2015-2017. This study was tested by using the Moderate Regression Analysis test. The results of this study indicate that the audit committee and audit tenure have a negative effect on audit report lag, but the independent commissioner has an insignificant effect on audit report lag. Audit complexity is proven to increase audit report lag as an increase audit committee. This research provides the capital market authority (OJK) to issue policies and strict sanctions, thus encouraging companies to publish audited financial statements more time.
